We parent and we care!
I know it does not sound like much but when there are 5 children aged 3-8 in a house it takes a lot of caring and parenting to keep the life going.
At the minute I have being loaded with requests for workshops and a couple of parties. After my break from soap making I completely forgot how October has always been our busiest month related to workshops and party. I am gladly accepting the work load and after a few months feeling a bit "blue" and avoiding human contact I am back enjoying to meet new people and hear stories with a lot of creativity, lovely smells and laughter.
The boys are not used with mummy away from home anymore and they are starting to verbalize that they are not very happy with my errands lately but after a lot of hugs and reassurance they remembered that they are the ones who encouraged me to go back into the soap business as they think that " it is very important for a family to have a family business to be passed to the children and so on" - Eli and Tobin's words.
If you ever wondered (or not) what happens in our soapy lives the days workshops are not being programmed, prepared and delivered than I will give you a glimpse of it. It is not everyday happy and bubbly but when things are quite sad and ugly I don't have a camera to record it so here I will show in pictures some things that get going among the school runs, home work, washing, tantrum management, pacifying endless disagreements, potty training fails, appointments to attend, cleaning and cooking:
My first attempt to make my own throat Honey and Lemon drops
It took me 4 tries but at the end I made one with pure honey and it worked a treat!
Board games are the big thing in the household at the minute. If weather allows we go for walks and reading is also something we enjoy a lot as the we are a no-tv household
We do things that keep us distracted from important things
Well...at least I get distracted. Garreth is more focused than myself so "I" get distracted taking pictures of nature, learning sewing, crochet, knitting, weaving...we also eat, drink coffee (in abundance alongside Garreth's Gin in the evening and get some rest on Shabbat (our favorite day of the week).
See? We are just like any other family. And you? What do you do when not investing in your passion or work?
So this is the time we were looking for.
After nearly 2 years fostering two children and caring for our own three boys we are ready to start a new season with our business. The kids are back to school and we have some time to invest in our business passion.
ScENT is still all about family and although we are still not manufacturing (believe me when I say 5 children is a lot of work) we are back offering workshops, demonstrations coaching/ consultancy, product development and parties.
This has being a surprisingly good year regarding to workshops as people have being requesting for our services even tho our old website was not on air.
I truly enjoyed the last few months teaching and having fun with children during soap parties.
So here we are for you and we hope you can trust us once more to pass along some knowledge and let some creativity be explored while you choose colours, smells and beautiful herbs to make your own products.
Hopefully we will meet soon
All the best
